2. Expensive roaming calls : You have a multi-band GSM phone that works overseas in roaming mode, but the roaming calls are expensive and you pay for incoming calls. Renting a country specific SIM card from us will provide you with free incoming calls and almost always much lower outgoing calls charges. In addition, your local contacts will dial a local number to reach you, rather than calling internationally to your home country cellular number.
What are the requirements for my cellular phone in order to be able to use a rented SIM card?
1. Your cellular phone must accept a "small size" SIM card, with dimensions: 15mm x 1mm
2. Your cellular phone must be compatible with the frequency bands for the country. Europe uses both GSM 900 MHz and GSM 1800 MHz. It is preferable to have a phone that works on all three bands (900/1800/1900MHz) for use in Europe. It is a requirement to have a phone that works on at least 900 MHz & 1800 MHz (called a DUAL band phone).
3. Your cellular phone must be subscriber "UNLOCKED". This means that the phone will accept any GSM SIM card. If you purchased your phone under a contract, where for example the purchase price was low, and you were bound by a 12month contract (with a monthly charge), it is likely that your phone will be LOCKED to the specific network that supplied the phone. Most networks will UNLOCK the phone to work with any network's SIM card for a charge. You can test whether your phone is unlocked by inserting another network's SIM card into it, if you can make and receive calls it is UNLOCKED, if you can't and the phone requests a code number, it is LOCKED.
